Stressful teaching life

My teaching life starts again in a remote town in Hong Kong. The school is surrounded by hills and is located right next to a pond. It is a beautiful place to live and work.

Living on my own should be pleasant with freedom and privacy. However, most people in Hong Kong are workaholic and some of my colleagues would stay until eleven at night. It is stressful at work and more than that, there are on average two staff meetings after school per week! My brain cannot stop functioning even when I am sleeping. No wonder I am exhausted and emotional during the day.

On weekends, I am back to my parents’ home and just relax. Socializing with my friends and hiking are my greatest joy of the week. We have a good laugh about silly jokes and show concerns if needed. In Hong Kong, the weather is now cooler for hikers and I feel refreshed after exercises. The best thing is to look at the pictures afterwards on Facebook and be surprised how difference a good camera can make.

I have made several mistakes this week which upset me too much. I always take them too personal and should have moved on. Next week will be a better week.
